Letter to the Editor - Posting of County Meeting Agendas
February 20th, 2017 | last Update: 1 year ago
Can you tell me why you have not yet posted the BOCC agenda. Has it changed?
Chipley Observer Reader
P.S. I also checked the county web site and no agenda was posted.
*We removed the writers name at their request. We do this if and when we can identify the writer through telephone number, email or physical address.
We received this email this evening. I will do my best to answer this.
Dear Chipley Observer Reader,
You are not the first person to ask this same question.
We have no control of when the county agenda is sent to us. We normally receive a media blast email anywhere from two to seven days before the meeting date. We monitor our email throught the day. Normally as soon as the agenda is received we post it.
If you look at the bottom of a previous Agenda there is this paragraph. Which requires at least 48 hours notice to the BOCC Administrative Office for handicapped or disabled person to make any accommodations.
We hope that the agendas are posted in time to honor any requests made.
We have also sent an email to the County Administrator for clarification which Florida statute they would fall under.
F.S. Title X, Chapter 120, which requires meeting agendas to be published on their County Web site not less than seven (7) days before a meeting. In which case they would be in violation of.
F.S. Title XIX, Chapter 286, which just requires reasonable notice.
Once we receive clarification we will update this page. Be sure to check back.
